Sorry if this has been discussed before.
Plan on buying the Panasonic PT-AE1000U. Screen ratio will be 16:9 at 100" diagonal (49" x 87" viewable). According to the calculations, my throw range will be 9' 8" - 19' 7". Room can be light controlled, however some viewing will be done with dimmed lighting. Screen most likely with be SMX AT screen.
Now my question: Is it ideal to place your projector as close as possible within the throw range? Are there any advantages/disavantages? My room is not a dedicated theater, just a TV room in the basement. Our seating consists of a sectional couch, with the primary seating position being center stage against the rear wall of the room. The room is around 16' deep. Placing the projector against the rear wall or ceiling mounted from around 14.5' - 15' away puts it pretty much above my head (89" tall ceilings). I'm guessing that is not an ideal front projector placement. If I place it around 10' feet away, not only will it be farther away (less fan noise), but viewers have more room to walk behind the image and not disrupt the image. This is pretty much at the low end of the zoom range, though.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
