I have been doing a lot thinking and was curious about using a video processor and the newer front projectors. If you spend the money to purchase a VP like a DVDO does that change the type of projector that you look at. Many of the newer projectors boast of scalers and VP internally...but if you have an external VP can you save money or look at other projectors? If so what would be an example of this?
Thanks

I'm not so sure. The dedicated quality scaler will still be better than internal processing on the projetcor. The greater amount of control is worth having the external quality scaler alone in my opinion. I don't currently own an external scaler / processor, but man am I envious of those that do when they talk of some of the cool control they have. I mean? Got a device that only plays well in stright RGB, ect..ect.? No problemo for the scaler.

Typically, people will buy an external processor to enhance the performance of an existing projector rather than buying a projector to fit a processor.
If you are thinking about getting a processor make sure that you carefully research its capabilities first. They vary considerably.
Yeah.....I understand what you are saying....I have a projector now that the VP will help but wonder when I upgrade the projector do I factor in to the equation the external VP or no?

The only sort of matching that makes any sense to me is having a processor that includes calibration features the projector benefits from. For example, if the projector has color decoding errors, it would be nice to have a processor with color decoding controls to fix it. Stuff like that.
