I recently purchased a bic h-100, which I hooked up to my Yamaha receiver. Do I need a special cable? Currently I have the white portion of the red/white cables (shows you how little I know since I don't know the proper names) and it seems to be working.

You could get away with a single RCA but I would consider purchasing a "sub woofer" cable.

hoho you can use what ever cable you want...make sure its 75ohm though

I also recommend 75ohm cable, not only is it thicker for better transfer than a stanadard red/white analog cable, but they are also better shielded which will minimize interference and possible ground loop problems. (Especially with long runs). They are about 15 bucks at RatShack so I would'nt worry too much about it.
Agree with MatthewB. There is no need for a special subwoofer
cable. All of the sub cables I've bought have been from Radio
Shack. A 12' length should run you around $15 as MB stated.
I you need longer, then buy 2 cables and a coupler.....vardo

well it really don't matter because the conception impedance doesn't really apply at such low frequencies....but well why not use one just to be sure :)
Different sub cables from Radio Shack that you can buy on line:

As for Matthew B.'s suggestion that 75ohm cables are thicker and better shielded, that is a separate issue and one that is, of course, dependent on what regular analog/RCA interconnect you are considering. Most of the ones I have are considerably more robust than regular 75ohm cables. :D

oh in that case i am truly sorry... one mission i have in this hifi life of mine is to kill all unnecessary myths and try to pinpoint all the high performing equipment out there...cheap or expensive...
