I've had my Epson 1080 for around a month now and I have noticed some things that I never did before and I am not sure if I have a problem and am looking for advice.
First off, the iris seems to be pretty noisy. It almost sounds like a hard drive grinding. I heard that it was a bit noisy, but it is louder than than fan on high contrast and I didn't expect that. Is this normal?
Secondly, the iris seems to be a bit slow is adjusting the contrast. I've read it works in the milisecond range, but some of the material takes ~3secs for it to complete the adjustment. This is most visible in video games that are dark that get suddenly light (like having a pause screen come up when you are in a dark cave), but I see it in movies also that have extreme changes.
Finally, I seem to get full screen contrast changes in various scenes even when there is no real change in the content. The projector seems to do this even on still material. If I see it in a scene and pause, the projector will rotate darkening and lightening the image every few seconds. It is not a huge shift, but enough to noticable and I don't think this is normal and what I find quite strange about this is that I don't hear the iris moving when the change occurs.
I am going to contact Epson on this also, but I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this or if there is anything I should check that could be causing these issues.
