It seems that the Paramount and Dreamworks decision to drop blu came just a few days before the release of Blades of Glory. Now that the thing is done and everybody's happy (with the exception of a few few at Amazon), Comes the problem: what to do with the Blades of Glory Blu-ray discs that were produced. I feel Paramount will enjoy some advice from us. Those who read my posts know that this is not a joke :D Well... anyway... what do you think Paramount should do??

How about give them out for free since they obviously don't want BD owners' money ;)

There is no evidence that there are any to deal with.

Deals go south all the time. Being caught with your pants down 1 week before release? Doubtful. I'd bed money there were discs.

So when they dispose of them in landfills, we can blame Toshiba for being environmentally unfriendly... ;)

Newsflash:
None of this was news to Paramount and they only need a couple of weeks to do discs. I seriously doubt there were any significant numbers of discs made, and if they were, they were most likely part of the deal.

Can they be sold in other countries where there isn't much of a "war" (such as Japan where BD dominates).

Watch some slip onto eBay before long. I highly doubt discs were not pressed one week before release.

For the love of God, destroy them and the HD DVD version too :)

Part of the $150 million deal . . . destroy the BOG BD's

Speculation but it makes sense.

I can tell you that if you are, say a recording artist with a CD or 2 out, most of the time the people you make a deal with buy those discs.

same thing AOL discs are used for:

of course if this happens I would hope a couple are missed ;)

Come on people. One BD line can do 15,000 discs per day. How many discs do you really think they would have made? 50k? 100k? So 4 lines could crank them out in 1-2 days. Then they get drop shipped from the replicator to places like BB and Amazon warehouses, which takes another 1-3 days.

I have no doubt that these discs weren't even pressed yet, so there is nothing to get rid of.

I don't believe there was anything beyond the test pressing. The funny thing is that there is someone out there that will spend $150 on one of the test pressings, but won't spend $250 for an HDDVD player.

Sure, they COULD crank them out that fast, but I doubt it. They have to schedule the production line, account for problems, testing, etc. Undoubtably the whole run was pressed and ready to go if not already in the retail channels.

One of the reasons for paramounts decision could well be that they couldn't get enough time on br production lines to meet their release schedule...

Doubt it.

Unless you have facts, don't even make speculation.

I can speculate all I want. :p

br50 capacity is limited, yields are low and it's expensive.

I wish I had speculated that Paramount was going HD DVD exclusive last week.

Bury them next to all the Atari ET cartridges in the desert.

Uhhhh.... Isn't it speculation that they even exist?

Are you saying we shouldn't discuss it at all?

Think of this... hi-def reviewers typically get their discs 1-2 weeks in advance, but for BoG, no one got one. Why is that you think?
