Hey guys forgive me if this has been discussed I tried to do a search. I am pretty new to this home theater system, but am pretty good at wiring. My question is this I have a home theater system and have it wired up to 5 speakers and one sub. I have a toslink going from the cable box and dvd player to the reciever. I am wondering where does the optical from the tv come into play should I run a cable from my flat panel lcd to the reciever will this do anything? i am just wondering i guess if i have this system wired up okay please help. thank you.

Typically the optical out on a TV only carries the digitial audio signal from the TV's internal tuner, and it will not relay the stream from the cable box/DVR or DVD player. The output from the TV is only useful if for some reason you stop using a cable box.

okay perfect just wanted to see if i should worry about running a toslink from the tv to the reciever thanks for the input.
