View Full Version : Do you have a vested interests in BD or HD DVD format?
galileo2000 08-23-07, 12:01 AM I surely enjoyed this forum.
Now, with all the blood, sweat and tears here I am curious.
Do you have a vested interests in BD or HD DVD format?
Poll is anonymous by definition.
Your under $500 investment in either format does not count as a vested interest.
Your ownership of Sony, Toshiba, Paramount, Microsoft or other company shares sure does count as a vested interest.
Let's find out.
MARTINIGUY 08-23-07, 12:25 AM There should be an option for both HD/BR
Slim GoodBooty 08-23-07, 12:26 AM 2 players of each format and an equal number of discs. It wasn't a choice in the poll.
efxmaster 08-23-07, 12:44 AM I spend money I worked for that is a vested interest. I think anyone would agree along those lines!
CraigCooper 08-23-07, 12:54 AM Where is the option for both formats. I would be real keen to see the numbers for people who choose High Definition over some corperates
galileo2000 08-23-07, 01:18 AM Guys, the point of the poll was to find out why so much blood is spilled here and if there is any reason behind it.
If you own both formats and don't care about the outcome, the third option is the perfect choice for you.
vancouver 08-23-07, 01:24 AM I have $500+ a interest in both formats.
galileo2000 08-23-07, 01:27 AM I have $500+ a interest in both formats.
Once again, the third option is your best choice.
I voted what is vested interest, before reading the post. I have no vested interest
I have $500+ a interest in both formats.
Regardless of what the OP says, that's a vested interest.
Anyone that buys into these formats certainly has a vested interest.
I've spent >$1000 on my BR HW/SW, that is a vested interest. I also own individual shares (& MF) of companies with a dog in this fight on both sides, but I consider my investment in the format itself more concerning than my stock investments.
pteittinen 08-23-07, 08:04 AM I've got thousands invested in both formats, and I work for companies on both sides of the HDM divide. So yeah, I have a vested interest in both of them succeeding.
Brian Shannon 08-23-07, 08:05 AM Based on the continued war, what little interest I had is waning fast.
I have a vested interest in movies, not in trying to make business decisions.
It isn't for the purpose of THIS poll.
thebland 08-23-07, 08:07 AM I have Microsoft shares...
I own both players.
I wouldn't consider either player a vested interested.....no more than I have a vested interest in Sony because I bought a $30K projector from them. These players are toys.

Huh? Where'd the "reviewer for upcoming discs" go from you signature? That would seem to be a vested interest - reviewing BD discs?

No time...Haven't reviewed a BD disc in months.
Have a HD-A! and a Panny 10ak. I want to enjiy HD at home. That is my only vested interest.
I have Microsoft shares...
I own both players.

Agreed!
A video player purchase in either a BD or HD format considered a vested interest???
I guess vested interest these days are loosely defined.

Being in San Francisco, I assume you never experienced the Ford vs. Chevy idiocy that is still popular here in the South. It's as simple as this: It's simply a validation of their choice. They all want to have made the right choice. No one is immune to it, given the money involved, but some of us are more rational about it than others.
I originally owned both formats, but decided supporting two would only prolong the war and I chose BD because it made the most sense to/for me. I don't hold a grudge against people who support HD-DVD, either exclusively or neutrally, though I do despise fan boys of both formats. I did not vote in the poll.
