Pity they don't understand that 1080i and 1080p are the same thing when feeding film based material to a 1080p display. In fact didn't Toshiba get the 1080p wrong on the A20?

The tides are turning! :D

No not really....

From the article, 1st paragraph:

The war between competing high-definition formats continues with HD-DVD still losing ground to its archrival, Blu-ray, in both sales and retailer outlets, but the conflict is still a long way from over.

Sounds like my own editorial..:D

Most displays (and devices) do not deinterlace 1080i well and will often bob to 540P. They do a better job deinterlacing 480i but even then, many will not do a 100% job. If you have a 1080p display, then buy a 1080P player.

So by most devices you mean broke @ss panasonic plasmas? Cause you know, this forum is the place most of that stuff was discovered.

They were talking about the fact that the HDDVD kills the BD for 300. They also didn't talk about the 7x or so players it took BD to get to more sales, but I do think the actual disc is more important at this point as if BD was selling as well as you and others claim, this would be over.
