Since the answer is always the same to questions I am asked by family & friends, I now call my basement project:
"It's Not In The Budget"

Update pics: (these do not include the playroom and table/chairs room)

Here is my basement project.
1,000 sq. ft. with the steps coming down the middle. I basically broke it into 4 rooms.

Home Theater
Play Room for kids
Game Room (pool table, darts)
Poker room / table chairs

The bar is 8 feet, and separates the HT and game room, so you can see the screen while playing pool. The projector is mounted in the soffit.

Here is my original concept sketch:

Here are my 3D models (IMSI Floorplan):

The basement has flooded before we put in the sump pump, has been o.k. since, but just incase, I used 2 inch foam insulation glued to walls, mostly metal studs, and DensArmor Plus drywall.

I did all the work with some help from my brother-in-law and brother. Took about a year to complete.

Here is my setup:

Optoma HD70 projector
Onkyo TX-SR505 7.1 receiver
JBL EC-25 Center speaker
JBL Venue Tour speeakers

I got all those for under $900

I shined the projector on the wall last night and had a 116" picture, the drywall isn't even painted yet, but PS2 with component cables looked phenomenal. The kids were in awe!

I am planning on painting a screen on the wall using Behr Ultra Pure White #4805.

Lateley I've been doing everything except the spackling. I installed the speaker wires, HDMI & component cables (with 4-way wall plate). Boxed in the windows, put up the doors...

I really need to finish up the spackling and sanding and get moving. I can't believe it's taking so long, doing odd jobs on the weekends to make some extra cash has really slowed the project down...

I finished my basement a few months ago, but haven't posted pics until now. These pictures do not do it justice. I will try to get better ones soon.

It is amazing how much it looks like the 3D plan i made early on.

I've added a HD cable box, Nintendo Wii and a cheap Philips unconverting DVD player, i hope to get a PS3 soon.

The most expensive part was the floor installation, even though my brother-in-law did it (we used porcelain tile for the whole basement) . Theater room has an oriental rug under chairs.

I think I am under $10,000 for the whole project, not bad for a complete 1,000 sq. ft basement.

The theater equipment breakdown is:
$550 - Optoma HD projector (clearance at Best Buy)
$180 - Onkyo stereo (buy.com refurb)
$104 - JBL surround speakers (on clearance at Tweeter)
$25 - JBL EC25 center speaker (price mistake at Best Buy)
$30 - Philips upconverting DVD player (clearance at Sears)
$100 - cable and wires (monoprice)
$100 - MTX subwoofer (clearance at Circuit City)
$10 - screen (painted drywall and framed with lattice)
$50 - component rack (clearance at Best Buy)

furniture was $1500 for 6 recliners.
Barstools were ~ $200 each at Namco.
Pub table & 8 chairs (not shown) $1400 from BonTon

Very nice job and room layout Bill. Looks like the same bar chairs I bought earlier this year from Namco too. Did you get the pool table from them? Shoot me a pm if you can as I would like to know more (price, quality, etc)...if you bought it from Namco. I also bought their half moon wall mounted tables for my game room. Pool table will probably be the last purchase after floor is finished.
and go Eags!!

Good job on the basement. I like the bar overlooking the theater zone. Makes for a nice play to snack without getting crumbs in the theater seats :D.

We live about 15-20 minutes apart since I'm up in the Oley/Fleetwood area. Nice to see local AVS'ers around.

are you going to put the rear seats on a riser? had to tell exactly from the photos but it seems like people in the front row would block the rear view

Looks great! I am about 15 minutes outside of Philly so I am right on board with the Eagles & Phillies.

I was going to put a riser, but the seats are already higher than the bar.
So far we haven't used the back row that much, but when we do, we just make sure the people in the front recline.

We didn't plan on 6 chairs, but they were 2 for $500 (before additional discounts) so we couldn't resist.
