I know...another "can you help me" thread, but I have a rather large room that opens to the nook/kitchen. My living room is 17'10" wide and 19'6" deep to where the carpet ends. It then opens up to the nook/kitchen where it is tile and another 23' to the far wall(so the room being a total of 42'6" deep straight). Right after where the carpet ends, one wall ends and there is a staircase upstairs and it opens up to where the front door is and a sports room. Sorry I know a diagram would help better, but just haven't had the time to draw one up. Anyway, for such a big room that opens up in the back behind the couch would a PB-12 Plus (which I can get in Piano Gloss Black) or will a PB-12NSD suffice (and I can use the left over funds for the rest of the speakers)? Thanks for your help.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I have 9' ceilings...so it is a VERY open room with 2 huge windows and 2 small windows against the TV/Fireplace wall. Then it opens to the kitchen and there is a sliding door. Also, this will be matched with either Def Tech Mythos Fours or Pardigm 200's. Haven't decided which yet.

Let's complicate things further. Have you considered a PB12-NSD/2? It should have more output than the 12-Plus and cost a little less.

No, no, no...let's not complicate things more!!! :) I have not considered that one due to the size of that monster. I DO have room for it, but it would be in a corner and I don't know how that plays with the rear firing of the ports. Do they need to be a certain distance from the wall for max sound efficiency? One reason I was leaning towards the PB-12NSD is because of the front firing port. The PB-12 Plus also has a special on the Piano Black right now, but once again not sure how the rear firing ports matter in a corner. But you are right...for $50 less I can get the 600 bash amp and it only sits 1.5" taller and 3" deeper(ONLY). Guess I should do a search on the corner limits.

A few inches is from the wall is really all you need.
