Hey guys. I used to have an 8300HD and was easily able to manipulate the resolution settings by holding Select and than Vol - to disable what I wanted.

However, it seems the 8300HDC doesn't like that and refuses to let me keep my 720p setting whenever it turns on (with the HDMI plugged in)

Basically, I want my damn thing always spitting out 720p. How do I go about doing this please?

go into settings and select the resolutions you want it to display(480i all the way up to 1080i)

I don't mean to be rude, but I'm pretty sure I said:

So again, how do I keep my selected HDMI high-def output resolution? Everything is missing the little circle next to it other than 720p (what I want).

I'm assuming this is the newest software, too. I dunno what it's called (Sara, Navigator, Anal 2.0, whatever)... but it's from Brighthouse in Florida and the Guide and Menu is a lot prettier than what it used to be. Nowhere could I find settings to do Upconvert, Pass-Through, Fixed, etc...

The only time I can get the damn thing to show an image is when I reset by unplugging it. It goes to 720p until I turn it off. Than right back to 1080i. Assuming it's the HDMI screwing it all up.

My SA8300HDC running PowerTV/Mystro with the Navigator guide does the same thing. My old SA8300HD with passport would allow me to select 480p, 720p, and 1080i, or a combination of those. This new box doesn't seem to allow me to do that. With HDMI it seems to send out only 1080i. However, this box does allow me to change the pillar bar color, which my old box did not, when it upconverted the SD channels to HD. And, the PQ seems better on this new box than the old box.

It's funny, because I just got a SA8300HDC with Mystro and it's stuck on 720p and it doesn't let me select anything else. I would prefer to select 1080i, although my TV is 720p, which is why it's stuck there.

I have a similar problem, through HDMI input, no matter what resolutions i disable or enable, the box simply passes through, and disreguards my res selection. I want it to STAY on 1080i for all channels, for speed purposes, but it simply changes the resolution related to the channel, even after disabling the resolutions i dont want.

Hey having the same freaking problem with this box. Anyone turn up any solutions yet or is this hardwired into mystro. Stupid move on their part if thats the case...

you guys are lucky.. mine is stuck at 480i. when i change channels, it switces to 1080i and 720p as if detecting it then reverts back to 480i. I had the box replaced hoping it would get resolved but same stuck in 480i. I'm stuck to using component cables if I want 1080i. I wish I had one stuck at 1080i. I got this box so that I can use HDMI. :(

I have two of these boxes in my house. One HDMI, one on component and for some strange reason the component video is stuck on 480i, the HDMI one works ok *ONLY* when the HDMI is connected to my receiver (denon 2808) - when it's direct connected to my TV (Panny 700 50") it is stuck on 1080i. When it is connected to the denon, sometimes it gets stuck on 480i and I have to change it to a different 1080i channel to get 480p (music choice) or some other 1080i channels (like VS.HD sometimes gets stuck on 480i - unless I change to HBOHD and back) - real annoying.
