Does this unit have enough accessible controls to calibrate? Has anyone had a bad experience trying to get a satisfactory calibration from this unit? Are they usually very close out of the box?

Has anyone had a bad experience trying to get a satisfactory calibration from this unit? Are they usually very close out of the box? BobL 08-24-07, 08:07 AM They calibrate very well and it is pretty close out of the box. It has all the grayscale controls needed but nothing for primaries and secondaries but it is not far off, so I wouldn't worry about it. Color decoding is excellent with it. Bob David Abrams 08-24-07, 10:02 PM video_bit_bucket, Yes, these displays have the necessary controls to perform a calibration with; however, as BobL mentioned, there aren't any adjustments for the primaries/secondaries, which are not accurate. Good Pictures! :) Dave krasmuzik 08-25-07, 03:14 PM However it is close enough to perfect that few PJ do better - thus eliminating much demand for gamut controls. There are many flav of the month PJ's that are horrid primaries with no controls - this is not one of the horrid ones. http://hometheatermag.com/images/archivesart/1105infocus.5.jpg HomeTheater mag does not plot secondaries - but they do rate the color decoding as Excellent. Infocus has always nailed the secondaries - so not sure what the basis for your comment was. Burned in lamps will eventually drift grayscale towards Cyan - which can push secondaries - but that happens with any PJ and is correctable with only grayscale calibration. TomHuffman 08-25-07, 10:26 PM I just calibrated the 333, which should have similar performance, except the 777 will have a much better contrast ratio due to the fact that it has the DC3 chip. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=897073 Excellent color. |
