View Full Version : Any 2000 lumen 1080P FP's on the horizon? I wish I could come up with the funds to build a model like this...I would sell them as fast as I could build them!...(Hint, Hint)...;) alexortega 08-26-07, 06:35 AM Many would like one of these. Especially one that is rationally priced I can only think of the Optoma HD 81 LV (large venue) projector that is reasonably priced and has 2500 lumens. RTROSE 08-26-07, 10:01 AM I can only think of the Optoma HD 81 LV (large venue) projector that is reasonably priced and has 2500 lumens. That one came to my mind as well, but the limited mounting options (large offset) will keep the majority (me included) from seriously considering this projector. I would like to see a PJ from Epson or BenQ that offered 2000-2500 lumens with respectable CR and good mounting flexibility for around 3000-4000 clams! Ok 1500-2000 would be much better, but I'm trying to stay in the realm of reality. Maybe I need to wake up from this dream, but a guy can hope right? Regards, RTROSE Digital2004 08-26-07, 12:42 PM i think the Optoma will be around 1200-1300ansi at best calibrated even the H81 2006 model was around 900ansi lumens even the SIM2 C3X at best outputs 1100-1600ansi (from 2500announced) all max lumens announced are always at much colder temps, iris open, full lamp mode and dynamic modes engaged the market NEEDS a true 2000ansi lumens 5000:1 600:1 ansi machine :D at around $7-8K inky blacks 08-26-07, 04:16 PM What we need is a 1080 LCD projector with a 300 watt bulb! That would do the trick, and it would not be that expensive. When will Sanyo or Panasonic deliver such a device? Come on guys! IB Digital2004 08-26-07, 04:57 PM but you would get poor ansi contrast and color non uniformity and onoff high contrast only via an iris. lcd native contrast can't leave the 1000:1 gate we need a LCOS with 2000ansi 400:1 10000:1 and DLP 2000ansi, 600:1 and 6000:1 (based on current technoologies it is possible) those numbers at the same time also. inky blacks 08-26-07, 07:01 PM but you would get poor ansi contrast and color non uniformity and onoff high contrast only via an iris. lcd native contrast can't leave the 1000:1 gate we need a LCOS with 2000ansi 400:1 10000:1 and DLP 2000ansi, 600:1 and 6000:1 (based on current technologies it is possible) those numbers at the same time also. With current LCD technology, I believe you could get an HONEST 2,000 to 1 contrast ratio with a 300 watt bulb, and an honest 2,000 + lumens. Allot of people would love to have a machine like that. For the other technologies, I think we need lasers to do the job. Lasers will be here in 2 years, until then the LCD-300 watt bulb solution is probably the most cost effective solution, unless Cannon comes out with their proprietary LCOS technology in a bright, 1080 home theater machine. They use a special mirrored light path to achieve high brightness. IB TheHDMan 09-01-07, 07:19 PM Optoma HD81-LV is going to be shipping soon....Now I need to re-mortgage my house....:D http://www.projectorcentral.com/Optoma-HD81-LV.htm Hopefully, this is not an accurate spec sheet...It "HAS" to do 1080P/24 alexortega 09-02-07, 03:37 AM It does do 24fps. It has a 48HZ film mode see page 46 of the user's manual!! Robert Whitehead 09-02-07, 09:38 AM Yes. The projectiondesign Action! IB Canon pjs are forgetable, lots of lumens with low contrast, better then geta cheap data projector. stick with home theater projectors. and some finally now are coming with lumens (1000-2000) JlgLaw 09-02-07, 05:43 PM Canon pjs are forgetable, lots of lumens with low contrast, better then geta cheap data projector. stick with home theater projectors. and some finally now are coming with lumens (1000-2000) Digital2004, I responded to your PM, but your PM box is full (just letting you know). Jim Ohlson 09-03-07, 05:22 AM Digital2004 Epsons new D7 deep black version is capable of 4000+:1. It is confirmed. Jason Turk 09-04-07, 10:31 AM Adding a 300 watt lamp would most likely bring up the light output to your goal, but, the tricky part is maintaining (or improving) contrast at the same time. Light output is only part of the picture. Digital2004 09-04-07, 03:08 PM SIM2 C3X 1080p confirmed for CEDIA see specific post from A Manuti this baby will be a hit ! Baird 09-04-07, 06:06 PM SIM2 C3X 1080p confirmed for CEDIA see specific post from A Manuti this baby will be a hit ! Can't find the post. Is it true? Jason Turk 09-04-07, 09:24 PM Any 3 chip 1080p DLP will be big bucks, so if we are talking about them we should add the Sim2 HT5000, DP Titan 250/500, etc... bgosselin 09-04-07, 09:33 PM Post didn't last long. It should be anounce and MSRP between 15 to 18k. It will be interesting to compare to the HT5000 from the same company. You can find Anrea Minuti website on his signature. I don't want to post it here. If it was pull it's for a good reason I guess. Bruno |
