Hi,

I finally joined the CRT club last weekend with the purchase of an NEC 9PG Xtra.

I've managed to get everything set-up pretty well thanks to all the great info
posted online by you guys & esp. Curt's site. But I'm having problems with occasional loss of convergence - sometimes appears as jitter but sometimes lasts as long as a minute. It may be only horizontal shift and may also only be the red tube but it is difficult to be certain. Sometimes I can go a whole movie without it happening, it does look like it occurs most during warm-up (first 20 minutes or so). Do I have a board problem or could it be a loose connection ?

All help gratefully received.

AB.

Dublin6,
A couple of things you can try.
On the deflection board reseat all the connectors, if you have wire ties on the wire looms that appear tight or old replace the wire ties without getting them real tight. These will sometimes pull on connections when you open the deflection tray. Also reseat the H and V yoke connectors being careful not to put alot of downward force on the middle of the board, support on the inside with your hand when putting back on.

Check your R-G-B static settings for each color. If you have alot of corrections made here instead of in the mechanical set up you could be overworking the C drive.
Also reseat all of the connections on the C drive that is located between the tubes.
Make sure the projector is shut off and the power button is off.

See if that helps. If you need to locate the boards go to Curt's site and take a look at the PG section, it has photos. If you still have problems it could be the C drive that has been overworked / heated to a point of a cold solder joint or the STKs (amps) need replacing. Doug
