OK so here is what im going to purchase...will it be a good start?

PS3 (of course)
component cables
Pirates 1 and II on BR
Resistance (cousin is giving me)
a few psn arcade games

with that, the web brower, arcade games I should be fine. With such a large HDD do most people stram their music or just load it onto the PS3? If they load, whats the easiest way to do it?

You'll probably want a HDMI cable, if you don't have one already

Are you interested in DVD up-conversion? If so, you might want to check out how your TV interacts with DRM. An HDMI-DVI could be the way to go and allow you to up-convert DVDs since it isn't possible over component.

Other than that issue, you should have a good start. There are now quite a few demos available to sample games before you spend any more money on discs.

Oh, and you'll probably want to get Warhawk next week. :D

I'm not talking about Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. I'm talking about SD DVDs.

Nah I got rid of most of them for HD and Blu ray..only SD's I have are Monsters Inc, Nemo, Sharktale a few other Disneys for the kid and then Goonies and Band of Brothers. Im looking to build a strictly Hi Def library now..both formats of course

In that case, you're set with component cables.

Enjoy!
