View Full Version : Moome Sony HDMI card, gamma at 1080p?

I have had the Moome HDMI input card for my G70 for the last few months and have been very happy with it, but I've just found tonight that the gamma levels at 1080i and 1080p are completely different. I've been wondering why I noticed such a gamma improvement initially but not so much in the last few months.

Initially I was running 1080i but then realised I could run 1080p quite well with this combination. Only when switching res tonight did I realise the gamma I was missing out on at 1080p.

Can anyone else confirm they are experiencing the same thing at 1080p on this card? Is there a setting I can adjust to increase the gamma levels for a 1080p source?

Thanks

almost any of the higher end 8" CRT projectors will do quite well with todays newer digital 1080P signals.

However, because they're not likely resolving the resolution, you're going to have weakness in the lower end, which would otherwise be fine with lower resolutions.

1920x1080P requires a ton of bandwidth, therefore a very fast video chain would be needed to switch from black to white properly at that speed.

If the bandwidth and speed is not present, the lower end will wash out, because the video chain simply does not have the speed to keep up with the very fast transitions to full black.

Ahhh, interesting. I did initially think maybe it's the G70, but then thought the obvious culrpit was Moome's card. Thanks for that Mike. Actually while the ABG is on it's not really an issue (or not that I've noticed) it's only due to me wanting to run with ABG off and I've obviously got the issue where the G2's been set incorrectly for new tubes and then the unit's been firmware updated.

Anyway, good to know thanks.
