I've had my RS-1 for about 2 months now and have been enjoying it thoroughly.
I have just started to notice an odd artifact and wanted to see if others have observed it as well.
I have a Dalite Deluxe Insta-Theater 90" screen that I've been using for about 3 years. Before the RS-1, I had an Optoma H77 that I enjoyed (but never quite got over the RBE). With this set up, I never saw the artifact that I am about to describe.
When the RS-1 projects a solid white or light gray image on the bottom 1/3 of the screen, I can see horizontal bands across the full width of the screen. The bands are about 2" thick and appear slightly darker than the overall picture. The bands are not all the same shade, but rather are darkest towards the bottom and then get progressively lighter up the screen until they disappear about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way up the screen.
The really odd thing about this is that I only see the effect when I am sitting down (or when my eyes are at an equivalent level). If I stand up, the effect disappears and the screen appears uniform.
I have my RS-1 mounted on a shelf behind my seating area, about 6 feet above the floor and about 12 feet from the screen. The visible portion of the screen (i.e., the white part ;-) starts about 3 feet above the floor, so it is likely a bit lower than most people have set up. I prefer this height as it allows me to look straight ahead at the screen instead of looking up.
Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas about cause?
TIA,
Ira
