I hope I am in the right area for this question...if not I apoligize. I just got a 50" Panny 1080 P, I am looking to get a copy of a break in DVD. I do not have the capabilities to d/l and looking to purchase one...could some please suggest one or some and where it is best to get it from?

I am also thinking of getting an Oppo 981...any thoughts or better recommendations? I am not a big movie fan...getting the plasma for 1) sports 2) gaming 3) movies...so I figured that the upconverting would be a cheaper method if when the occasion did arise that I was going to watch a movie and to utilize the plasma. I also realize that I should get the 100-200 hrs break in before gaming to any extent, I am not a marathon gamer but would like to enjoy the plasma with my Xbox 360. Everyone on this board is so helpful....TIA

IMO, you don't require a "break in" DVD... just follow Panny's recommendation:
4. What is the "break-in" period and what should I do during the break-in period to minimize any risk of image retention?
When your plasma TV is initially installed, the first 100 hours of use is known as the "break-in period." During this time, to minimize any risk of image retention, you should:

Make sure the plasma TV is in a viewing mode (aspect ratio) that completely fills the screen. The panel is shipped in this condition, in what is called the "Just" mode.
Turn down the Picture setting (in the Picture menu) to +0.
Briefly engage the 4:3 mode and confirm the side bars are set to "Mid", or "Bright". This can be adjusted in the Set Up menu.
Always return the display mode that fills the screen (such as Just, Zoom, Full, or H-FILL).
Try not to view channels with stationary backgrounds or logos for extended periods of time.
Avoid extended display of static images (video games, computer images, DVD title screens, etc.).

Here's a link to the free break in disk that many on AVS have used:

Just an FYI on the break in disk - if download size is your concern, this is seriously dial up friendly. The actual file is really really small. Like 2megs.

If you don't have a dvd - burner, that's a different issue.

$6 aint bad, although you can definitely just break it in with SD TV. Turn your picture and brightness to 0, set your aspect to zoom, and pick a channel that doesn't have a logo on screen.
