Guys,

Is it true that most DVR's still hold between 30-40 hours of programing? That is what it says in my TWC DVR info page. However, in the new FAQ section that they put up, it says a DVR can store up to 300 hours of SD programing. WOW! That is quite a discrepancy.

The 30-40 hr figure is for Hi-Def content.
The 300 hr figure is for SD content recorded in "standard quality" or mybe "low quality" mode.
Currently I have 38 one hour SD recordings on my SA8300HD DVR. The usage bar graph states I have used 39% of my hard drive. So, it looks like my DVR can store about 100 hrs of SD content. I don't have any HD recordings on my DVR right now, but I've found that one hour of HD content is equal to 3-4 hours of SD content.

The SA8300 is spec at 80hrs of SD and 20hrs of HD.

Of course, you could always purchase an external HDD and have double or more. for me I never run into storage issues with the 8300, but I know if you have 3 or 4 people storing stuff it would an issue real quick.
