Ok, I just got the set back from the store...hooked it up to my Xbox360 and tried to set it to 1080p with both the VGA and Component cables and I'm getting a distorted picture that is split in half shaking and dark...what is going on? I can't seem to find anything in the manual.

If you look on pg. 92 of your manual you will see that the component input info lists 1080i/720p/480p/480i as supported input resolutions- 1080p is not listed so I would assume that that resolution is not supported via component.

The documentation on the VGA input doesn't seem as clear to me (not a HTPC or XBox person), but from pg. 26 of the manual it looks like your JVC only supports either 640X480 or 1024X768 input resolutions via VGA. Again, 1080 isn't listed as a supported resolution.

Sorry, but it looks to me like you'll have to select an input resolution that your JVC supports, get an XBox (or upconverting A/V receiver?) with HDMI connections so you can use 1080p, or buy another display that supports the resolutions that you want to input via the connections that you want to use. Maybe another owner can be of more help.

Is this normal for tvs to not have 1080p on all inputs?

Yes, many "1080p" TV's (displays with a native output resolution of 1080p on their screens) that accept 1080p input at all only accept that 1080p input via HDMI. Some Samsung displays have accepted 1080p via component (and I think VGA) for awhile, and more manufacturers are including that capability this year, but there are still many displays out there that do NOT accept 1080p via all inputs.

The VGA limitatons have been well doccumented. HD-DVD sure throws an awesome picture at 1080i out the component though. :)

But 1080p via HDMI only on this one.
