I am new to all of this and dont know the termonlogy. I have a cable box that I want to put in a closet but be able to use my remote. There is an IR jack at the back of the box and I guess there is a sensor window at the front. Can someone please let me know the simplest way to control this unit.
Thank you

It would help if you listed a budget since there are a lot of options out there.

Hot Link Pro IR repeaters are reputedly excellent and sell for about $75-80 on amazon.com

Xantech is also an excellent solution and sells for about the same or a little more and can be found on amazon.com or smarthome.com

Buffalo electronics are similar to Xantech and can be found on amazon.com.

You should be able to find what you need for under $100.

Hey guys, how does this Hot Link thing work, exactly?

Specifically, how (where?) does it get hooked up to all of your components?

The IR emitters are stuck over the IR sensor of each component.
