He said he got it on clearance for $600. It's an RCA r52wh77. It looks pretty old and doesn't have any HDMI connections, only DVI. Anyway the picture is a little wavy and ghosts pretty bad. He let me take a look at it and I was able to get it looking ok by manually adjusting the convergence in the settings. That corrected most of it, but convergence on the bottom left corner of the screen is way off. I'm guessing that maybe the TV was dropped or something.
Anyway I've heard that it's possible to get into service settings where you can fine tune the set. Would this work to correct the set or is this the best we are going to get? Thanks.

yo...
"doesn't have any HDMI connections, only DVI"
can always use a dvi to hdmi cable if you want to use that plug :}
"convergence on the bottom left corner of the screen is way off"
the service menu will most likely have greater convergence adjustment option and could help you alot in that corner. i know with my old rca..to get into the service menu id have to push the power and menu buttons at the same time and hold them down for a few secs. could be differant for yours.
"the picture is a little wavy and ghosts pretty bad"
not to sure about it...my old rca use to ghost on like 2 channels but it was the channels that had the issue. if it is doing it to every channel on that tv then i wouldnt be to sure if its the tv.. id try all the av inputs to see if it still happens and if it did then it could be the tv. could also be something as small as a bad cable wire.
im taking it that he didnt get a warranty with it?

Sounds like it needs to be calibrated. I take it he didn't bother to check the picture out with it. I also talke it there is not HD coming into the display either. I take it he got scammed if he didn't look at the quality of unit before spending that much money on it.

Did he buy it at Wal-Mart? I saw a few DLP's on clearance there.
