HI,
This is my first post. I saw this TV at Costco's today, and the price really grabbed me. I was looking at the Vizio 37" at Costco, but I really want a 42".
How is burn in handles these days. I thought this was a big issue with Plasma tv's. I wont be gaming...just watching non HD DTV for now, maybe pausing TIVO from time to time.
Any advice, tips or pros or cons would be helpful.
thanks

I can't comment specifically on either... I do know that these are considered 3rd tier sets, meaning they don't possess the picture quality or reliability of a Panasonic or Samsung.
My advice to you is spend/save $200 more than the Maxent at Costco costs and get top level set such as Panasonic or Samsung.

I saw this same set at Costco today next to a Sammy 42" which was $350.00 more and I couldn't tell the difference in PQ
I just might buy this instead of the Sammy 4254 I've been eyeing and save myself $300.00
BTW, I went to Circuit City today and came to the conclusion that it should be called "Circus City"
Bunch of damn clowns who know nothing about the product they're selling, and they aren't helpful, and not one person there could give me a firm definition of their low-price guarantee.
The guarantee says that they will meet the price of any "local" retailer, but no one there could define what local meant. 5 miles, 10 miles, 25 miles, 50 miles?
And then, they apparantly have a list of retailers who's prices they won't match, but they don't mention this anywhere and the only way I found out was by asking numerous people there.
So the "low-price guarantee" is very arbitrarily enforced, pretty much at their discretion. And they can basically tell you "too bad, we won't match it"
I told them that this isn't really any kind of guarantee if it's not clearly defined and is subject to their arbitrary terms.
I told them that I was in the market for a 42" Plasma, but would be buying elsewhere and that they're a bunch of idiots.
How this place stays in business is beyond me.
Oh, one more thing: The reason I went their is because they had a 42" Hitachi 1080i HDTV with Tuner for under 1K
I checked their website, it said it was available at the store so I drove their and they sales dude says they sold out this AM
The CC website said "In stock" for that store at 2:00 PM, yet I drive there and they sales dude says they sold out of them hours earlier.
LIke I said, it should be called Circus City
Damn clowns.

Any other opinions on this set?
As I said, the PQ is great as is the price, so I'm thinking about going this route instead of the Samsung 4254, as the Maxent is about $300.00 less.

I bought this unit to replace an older plasma... while installing it i noticed that the plasma screen itself is made by samsung!! I thought for sure that i found a real winner. hung the tv on the wall, hooked everything up... and bleh!!! the picture quality was EXTREEMLY poor. i cannot emphasize that enough. I played with the settings for a couple of hours only to get the quality marginally better. HD satelite PQ was very poor at best! SD satelite PQ was unwatchable. Xbox 360 quality was very poor. DVD quality was very poor.
I don't know if I got a bum tv, but i packed it up after a few hours and brought it back the next day - and now have a sammy 4264 which is very nice.
The weird this was that it was on in costco and looked very good (if not better) next to a panny.
