View Full Version : Problems with GRAW2...it keeps locking up, and I have to restart my PS3.

As the title implies, I'm having major problems with GRAW2 for my PS3.

I can play in spurts, maybe 15 minutes into the game (playing single-player campaign, haven't tried MP yet), and then it just locks up.

Mind you, when I say locks up, I don't mean in-game. I mean the screen where you select the teammates that you want, or where you select the guns and grenades that you want before a mission begins (or even half-way through a mission, where you're given the chance to select your teammates).

I get hard lockups, the kind where you have to press the PS3 power button in order to get it to restart.

I have Madden 08, Ridge Racer 7, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and they all play fine. My PS3 is out in the open, in my air conditioned room and well ventilated...

Anyone else getting this problem in single-player mode?

Tried exchanging the disc? Although both GRAW and GRAW2 lock up on my 360 every once in a while, but that is at the menu and not ingame.

I'm on the 5th or 6th singleplayer scenario and havent had a single lockup. Youre scaring me Rieper.

Okay, try this: When you're asked to switch guns/grenades/teammates, try switching back and forth a few times between your choices (at least 5-7 times). Yeah, I know 5-7 times is excessive but just check it for yourself.

See if it locks up on you...if not, it might just be a bad disc for me.

It's not just you, Rieper. I've had the issue, too, and I posted it in the other GRAW2 thread. Not a defective disc, IMO, but more of a bug. The way I have found to avoid it is to just cycle through your choices slowly. The tell tale sign that a lockup is coming is that the animations of the squad members stop, even if you're moving on to something else. If they aren't moving, neither are you when you hit ready...LOL.

lol wow, ****in ubi man. dont feel bad. i had the 360 version and it did the exact same thing. go on ubisoft's forums (or even the xbox forums) and check out the double digit thread on the subject. bottom line ubi is going to say its sonys fault (they told me its ms fault w/ the 360 ver) and sony is gonna say its ubi's fault. in the meantime you're stick with a defective game.

I haven't tried Multi-player yet. Does anything weird (ie. lockups) happen in MP or is it strictly single-player?

I've had some lockups in single player - lasts about 10 seonds or so - the sound continues but the screen freezes. It happened in the same place 3 times in a row (because I suck and get killed and have to start the level over) and then the 4th time and afterwards it was fine. I think it may have been my wireless internet connection connecting/disconnecting.

Also, anyone else have a problem with some of their guys locking up - staying in one place and not taking any orders? They just sit there and say "negative" when I give them an order.

out of curiosity, why does the game use an internet connection in SP?

I've found it locks up on the same spot for me, just not that frequently.

Hmm, I haven't had any lockups in single player. In multiplayer the screen went dark at the end of a round but the music kept playing so I had to reboot.

It's what's going on in the background. I've found that at times, my game framerates bottom out and then there is a message that I have been unexpectedly logged out of the Playstation Network. The PS3 logs on when I turn it on.

That's what happens when a developer makes a courtesy port to another console.

No it definately isn't a problem with porting the game. The exact same issue happend on the 360, and theres double digit threads of people complaining on xbox and ubi forums. I've had nothing but problems with Ubi games this gen.

And how do you explain the lock ups on the 360?? Anyhoo..Havent had mine lock up yet..But I dont fool around in the teamate selection menu much either. Sucks that UBI couldnt fix this before they released the PS3 version, since it was a known issue on the 360. UBI is about to join my list of Pubs, not to buy.

Just received the game last night...played for 5+ hours, had it lock up about 5 times...always on the transition from choosing squad member back into game play. Would have to "quit game" and then restart to get around it. Annoying...
