Hi, I just got a HDMI switch box from Best Buy ($100) to switch between my DVD player and my Dish network. My TV is Panasonic TH-50PHD8UK.

My question is - what have people's experiences been in using such switch boxes. I noticed a (slight) difference in signal quality when routing through the box vs. direct connection. Also the switch is not picking my DVD player's HDMI signal which sort of defeats the purpose.

Any advice would be appreciated. I am trying this switch out since my amp, Arcam AVR 250 only switches component video, not HDMI.

Thanks

I have a Geffen switch box and it has been in my system for over two years now and it has been bullet proof. A quality switcher should not degrade the signal at all. My Geffen does the job just fine.

monoprice.com has a 4x1 $50 and a 5x1 for $60. they also have a 4x2 matrix type unit for $99 but is backordered. i think there is a thread on the monoprice HDMI swithces in the hdtv reception forum

I'm using a Gefen 2x2 HDMI switcher/splitter and there is no degradation of the picture, and it works perfectly with my Tivo S3 and SA8300HD, sending the image from one or the other to both my displays simultaneously.

I've been using the Accell 2x1 HDMI switch. No problems what so ever. it comes with a remote to switch. Or you can program your remote to switch with the source if it's capable. Also it doesn't need a power source which is a nice feature!
