as the name indicates, I'm in the market for a gaming projector I can bring with me. I have an xbox 360 and I have a mitsu hd1000 for the home, but I don't like bundling it up when I go to people's houses. I want a cheap, bright LCD business projector that is sharp. Fan noise isn't a big deal as long as it has a good speaker. I was considering the dv10, but have since looked elsewhere because I don't really need the dvd player and think I can do better elsewhere. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Looking to spend about 500 bucks - maybe more but not much more. Thanks in advance
edit: the reason for LCD is that these pj's typically have rainbows. Pixel structure not a huge deal to me

The DV10 is a DLP, not LCD, projector.
Epson has some cheap business pjs but most are 800x600 - not optimal for Xbox 360 gaming.

Cheap DLP machines would be even worse though with 2x colourwheels...

Hello All,

Hope you are all well.

Looked really hard, and it is difficult to meet your requirements. I found a 1024x768 Hitachi CP-RX60 LCD Projector at 1500 Lumens and 4.84 lbs is in your range, also the bulbs are inexpensive for this unit, a big plus for gaming (Less than 200 a piece). Has 1 watt mono speaker. Warranty is kind of lame though, 3 years or 2500 hours, 90 days or 180 hours on the lamp.

The MovieMate is also in your range but it is heavy and awkward at 15 pounds, but does have much better sound, 10 watt per speaker JVC stereo sound. Warranty is better at 2 full years with cross shipped replacement for those 2 years, full 90 day lamp warranty. Also, it is widescreen versus the 4:3 format of most business projectors, especially in this price range. However it is an 854x480 class machine, so you will sacrifice some image quality compared with your HD1000.

Epson does sell a rolling case for the MovieMate for MSRP $99, could solve some of the awkwardness in moving it.

Hope some of this helps.

Later,

Tony

I use a BenQ MP610 (almost identical to the 611c, which is what you'll find more readily) in my HT, and while its not the best projector, it does the job quite nicely. I project an 82" 4:3 screen at 800x600, in a light controlled room, and very few scenes are washed out at all. It goes for about 600$ currently, 400-500$ if on sale, and is quite small and light, so easy to pack around.
