Hi guys,

I need help setting my own wireless connection. So far, i have been able to connect to internet by connecting to others' network because i simply don't know how to set my own.

1>. My cable modem, wireless router (Microsoft) is in my bedroom. My condo is small only about 875 sq ft.
2>. I use my laptop mainly in the kitchen/living room area which is separate from the bedroom. My PS3 is located in the living room.
3>. I have been having problem signing in the PS3 into the internet recently... i don't know why. My laptop seems to be okay... I tried to enter the SSID exactly the same as my laptop but it won't work. When i try to "scan" via the PS3, the SSID that i use for my laptop does not show.
4>. I tried to set up my own network on my laptop with no luck... On one of the steps during the wizard setup, it gave me 2 options whether to use a flashdrive or manual. Since i don't have a flashdrive, i had to always choose no. 2. However, after everything is done, i search for wireless connection and the name that i just created NEVER appear on the list.

Can someone help me with step by step instruction so i can connect with a good signal on my OWN network?

Thank you

Have you tried inputing the wireless network (name and password) manually into the PS3?

What type of router are you using, is it a b only?

I don't know how to input name SSID and password since i dont know how to do it to begin with on my laptop.

My microsoft router is the "b" type... is this bad? Do you think i should buy a new one?

I had to replace my b only with a b/g router, turned out to be the only way I could get a reliable connection - all I'm saying is that it was the answer to my problem.

I am not much of a PC guy, Mac's only for the last decade or so but I know there's a way to find your network info: name, ip address, password...etc.. How did you get connected to begin with?

is your router broadcasting the ssid?
