i have trimmed down my selection between these 2 RPTVs. can you help me decide which one is better. Does both of them do the 1080P/24?

I went to Visions Electronics a while a ago and saw these tv side by side. For me it looks like Sony has a better picture quality than Samsung. I don't know if its just a matter of calibrating the tv properly. Samsung is using LED DLP while Sony is using a bulb which needs to be replace at least every 5 years. In the long run, is it worth to get Samsung than Sony?

help me please....

The LED backlight is projected to last as long as 60,000 hours now, so fact sheet now says LED's will last as long as the set. Color accuracy has improved and LED's allow for fast start up, and shutdown versus bulb RPD's. No color wheel now so much quieter. Rainbows gone.

Yes the current firmware supports 1080P/24 on the Samsung.

Sony specs 2.5-millisecond pixel response time, where as the Samsung is 16 micro seconds, much better for live action sports.

Viewing angles are similar. Sony is 130°(H) x 60°(V) viewing angle, where as Samsung is 140°(H) x 60°(V) viewing angle.

Samsung has three HDMI 1.3 with CEC inputs, versus two on the Sony.

If you like the PQ better on the Sony get that one..You may spend around 200 more in longrun in bulbs considering the price difference up front is a jump...2 bulbs in 10yrs 500..Difference in price of 2 sets is 400...Except if the LED boards go your in trouble...I think the Samsungs have a pinkish tinge to them...

A typical arc bulb runs for 6000 hours, thats 3 years at 6 hours a day, and then it goes and you spend $250 to $300 to buy a new one.

LED light sources will eventually obsolete all those arc light based RPD's, and replace the LCD display backlights next, including usage in computer laptops. I would read up a bit on the company that makes the PhlatLight (http://www.phlatlight.com/home.php).
Per vendor: "PhlatLight LEDs won’t burn out and never need to be replaced (unlike UHP lamps), and their self-adjusting digital control means you can count on perfect picture quality for the life of the TV."

Only technically is the Samsung faster. There is so much processing now done to signals that both are faster than the errors involved in processing. That is a technical spec only. In regards to sports, the signal feed will be the determing factor in regards to either sets ability to keep up with the action.

Nonsense? why? coz you don't agree with him! He give a personal opinion that he thinks it has a pinkish tinge to it , you have a right to not agree with him, but he has the right to his opinion just like you. Why do so many of you act like your opinion is fact

it looks like the winner in this match is Samsung. maybe the only question here is the PQ and price as well as the TV stand. Sony is giving away free matching TV stand on their A2020 model but not on Samsung.
