I've finally gotten approval from the fiance to purchase a new TV. I've narrowed down my criteria to the following:
- 50"
- 1080p
- plasma
- NO monitors, must have a tuner built in
- $2000-$3500 budget (i'm willing to buy from a good online retailer to save some dough)
- panasonic or pioneer
- I'll still be watching SD because Comcast doesnt offer too much in the way of HD content in my area (Arlington VA), but I'll watch plenty of Bluray movies and video games
- i'm also partial to a good PIP, i'd like the option of playing video games and having the TV on at the same time, or watching several football games at once, etc

The TV will be set up in our living room (avg brightness, i'll be sitting about 10' away), i'll hook up Comcast HDTV & a PS3 for gaming and Bluray dvds. I've been reading a lot and went to take a look at BB, I am strongly considering the Panny pz750u. I dont trust the settings for the TVs at the stores so I've come to ask this forum's advice.

Am I concentrating on the right criteria or should I be looking for TVs with other specs that would better fit my needs? What other TVs would you suggest? Should I wait till the new Pioneers come out in Sept, will the prices of the old models drop enough to make them worth it?

If there is anything i've left out, just ask and i'll do my best to answer.

I third that.

If you must have 1080p then the sammy 5084 is an excellent set and with the low price you can spend the extra cash on a nice surround sound set and reciever.
