Darn, I can't DVR it. Tigidal 08-27-07, 09:35 AM Looking at the map and ESPN schedule below it... Can I count on seeing the WI game on ESPN even thought my location (Wash, DC) isn't getting the feed on ABC? Thanks. hdfan1 08-27-07, 10:21 AM Looking at the map and ESPN schedule below it... Can I count on seeing the WI game on ESPN even thought my location (Wash, DC) isn't getting the feed on ABC? Thanks. Yes this year each week the ABC afternoon game is going to be handled this way. There will be 2 main games. Whatever game you are not getting on ABC you should get on ESPN. Tigidal 08-27-07, 10:51 AM Yes this year each week the ABC afternoon game is going to be handled this way. There will be 2 main games. Whatever game you are not getting on ABC you should get on ESPN. Excellent, thanks. Great way to handle in my opinion. JMartinko 08-27-07, 11:00 AM Yes this year each week the ABC afternoon game is going to be handled this way. There will be 2 main games. Whatever game you are not getting on ABC you should get on ESPN. How is that going to work on dbs satellite services like D* and E*? Will they have both games available on an ESPN feed and the game available in the applicable areas? It seems like they did this a couple of times last year and the second game was blacked out. OrleansDawg 08-27-07, 11:30 AM Why in god's name does Wisconsin/Wash State drop down so far into Mississippi? bgreinke 08-29-07, 07:38 PM OK, maybe I'm dumb, but I'm a little confused. The ESPN schedule says ABC & ESPN for both the BC/Wake and UW/Wash St games. I'm in TX and our ABC game is the Nebraska game. That would leave both of the "Main" games described above as open to air on ESPN. Now, ESPN gameplan (which I've ordered for the season) lists the Nebraska and BC games, but not UW. All this boils down to, WILL I GET THE UW GAME IN TX? Thanks for anyones help. Braden Red Dog 08-29-07, 08:17 PM You'll get the Wisconsin game on ESPN in TX and other areas that get NEB/NEV on local ABC affiliates. homcom 08-29-07, 09:13 PM Yes this year each week the ABC afternoon game is going to be handled this way. There will be 2 main games. Whatever game you are not getting on ABC you should get on ESPN. The split ABC/ ESPN games only aplly to Big Ten games. The split telecast of Big ten games may be in Primetime as well. I do believe if ABC has two Big Ten games only one will be split with ABC and ESPN. The second regional ABC games will be on gameplan, those should be the very few Big Ten games on Gameplan. Tigidal 09-01-07, 03:45 PM Excellent, thanks. Great way to handle in my opinion. Can anyone clue me in as to why Comcast in DC decided to blackout ESPN (instead of showing the Wisc game) and is showing BC/Wake on ABC in standard def! Very disappointed. jblank74 09-01-07, 03:51 PM We're getting Wake Forest and BC on ABC HD, NOTHING but a gray screen on our ESPN HD, and Washington State and Wisconsin.....on.....get this........regular ESPN. Now, why in the f*** are they not showing our ESPN HD content, if they are airing the game on ESPN regular, anyway? MORONIC!!!!!! And I am on a utility carrier (BTES), not a big boy cable company. Thanks jblank... I didn't even think about going down to regular ESPN to check, but low and behold there is the WI game in standard def. Happy that I can at least watch the game now but still no clue why ESPNHD is blacked out. jblank74 09-01-07, 04:00 PM Same here. I mean damn, if you're gonna show the game on regular ESPN, why not show it in HD? Where is the logic in that? humdinger70 09-01-07, 04:10 PM We're having a grand old time in San Diego (this probably applies to both Cox and TWC)! :D :D HD games on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2, plus the quasi-HD NBC Notre Dame game. This is all simultaneous at 1:00 PM PDT. Chris Carollo 09-01-07, 04:49 PM Anyone know if ESPN-HD is truly blacked out, or if they're just having signal trouble or something? Berto1020 09-01-07, 05:36 PM Bullsh@t! Can anyone clue me in as to why Comcast in DC decided to blackout ESPN (instead of showing the Wisc game) and is showing BC/Wake on ABC in standard def! Very disappointed. Tigidal and jblank74, I have the same problem here in Dumfries, VA via Comcast... homcom 09-01-07, 05:43 PM ESPN does not provide alternate programming in HD. ChrisHman 09-01-07, 06:31 PM ESPN does not provide alternate programming in HD. but its not alternate programming... coverage maps clearly show espn/abc producing wake/bc and wash/wisc both in HD at the 3:30 slots... so if our (atlanta) regional abc has the wake/bc game, why cant espn distribute the feed of wash wisc, considering it already exists in other areas... i guess what im asking is, if its truly alternate programming in the atlanta region, is there a spot where its not alternate programming (a la getting an HD game on ABC and ESPN). ChrisHman 09-01-07, 06:53 PM Let me answer my own question. In atlanta UGA game kicked off at 6:45 but the Missou/Illinois game wasnt done yet. So our espn2hd feed is still missou illinois while the espn2sd feed switched to the uga game early... so i guess that answers my question. somewhere in the nation all is well with HD on both channels but everywhere else is screwed. homcom 09-01-07, 11:17 PM but its not alternate programming... coverage maps clearly show espn/abc producing wake/bc and wash/wisc both in HD at the 3:30 slots... so if our (atlanta) regional abc has the wake/bc game, why cant espn distribute the feed of wash wisc, considering it already exists in other areas... i guess what im asking is, if its truly alternate programming in the atlanta region, is there a spot where its not alternate programming (a la getting an HD game on ABC and ESPN). The Wake Forest / BC game was the main ESPN game it was on ESPN SD and HD in the areas that were supposed to receive the game on ESPN. In areas in which it was supposed to be on ABC it should have been in HD in those markets. If it was not in HD in the markets it was on ABC, that is a local issue. The Washington State/Wisconsin game was the main ABC game and was only in SD in the markets that had it on ESPN. ESPN can send multiple SD feeds to cable companies. The ESPN head end equipment at the cable companies can automatically switch between these feeds based on location based on directions sent from ESPN master control. At this time ESPN does not provide multiple HD feeds. bgreinke 09-01-07, 11:50 PM The only way we got this game was on ESPNA. I didn't even think to look, but my brother found it on that channel. In Houston, the ESPN feed was the BC/Wake game and it was blacked out because it was on game plan. What the hell gives? Since when does a PPV game cause the standard cable feed to be blacked out? And why did ESPN think they shoud air a game in TX that was available on Gameplan and then only air the UW game on ESPNA? In the end, we got to see the UW game, but this is one hell of a mess. I got DISH to refund my purchase of a yearly gameplan subscription because of it. Given that I'm likely to see very few UW games on gameplan this year, not a bad deal. All three of those games were available across the whole country on ABC, ESPN, or Gameplan. Per the Big Ten contract the Washington State / Wisconsin game was on either ABC or ESPN across the country. Thus there were three regions for the country. The areas that saw the Washington State / Wisconsin game on ABC had the Wake Forest / Boston College on ESPN. This accounts for 51% percent of the country. In these areas the Nevada / Nebraska game was on Gameplan. The areas that saw the Wake Forest / Boston College game on ABC had the Washington State / Wisconsin on ESPN. This accounts for 26% percent of the country. In these areas the Nevada / Nebraska game was on Gameplan. The areas that saw the Nevada / Nebraska game on ABC had the Washington State / Wisconsin on ESPN. This accounts for 23% percent of the country. In these areas the Wake Forest / Boston College game was on Gameplan. This is the region in which Huston was in, that is why the WF/BC was on Gameplan and not ESPN for you. |
