My father in-laws TV has been acting up in the last few days showing severe red lines throughout the picture. The symptom comes and goes, but seems to be getting progressively worse. Is this a problem with the bulb? He's had his TV for a little over a year. The bulb has no more than 500 hours on it. Is this a common problem with the D-Ila?

Thanks,

I've never heard of it in over 2 1/2 years on this forum, and I doubt very much the lamp has anything to do with it. Unless someone else here has some insight I'd say he needs it looked at professionally. May be a problem with signal processing.

The picture seems to have the same brightness as it did a year ago when he got the TV. So, I agree that the bulb seems an unlikely culprit.

looks like the optical block has failed, or is in need of adjustment. replacement is expensive.

Luckily he bought this TV at Costco and he's still within the 2 year warranty. Hopefully he won't have to pay for any repairs that may be necessary.
