My Inlaw's house was struck by lightning last week.
We've already turned the claim into their homeowners and are awaiting the service guy to verify if the 2 tv's they lost are repairable. One is an old (like about 10 years old) 60" Zenith rear projection SD tv - the other is a 27" Sony CRT.
Anyway - since they have replacement cost on contents on their Homeowners insurance - they will be given the going rate (minus their deductible) for a new 60"ish Rear Projection tv and 27" CRT tv. I'm assuming the insurance adjuster will alot them enough for a current generation rear projection - like a DLP or LCD - along with the going rate for a 27" Sony crt.
In the event the tv's are not repairable - can someone suggest a good Rear Projection TV that will have decent SD picture quality (they're on DISH network and will most likely not upgrade to HD immediately)?
I'm leaning toward a newer Samsung LED or perhaps a Sony SXRD (they will kick in the extra money above and beyond what the insurance company offers them). I have not kept up on the current rear projection models since buying my Pioneer 940 Elite Plasma.
