Hi

I've been out of the projector scene for awhile now. Basically after all the research 3 years ago and bought my Sanyo Z1, I stopped following this stuff and just enjoyed it.

Well, now that the bulb has died, and seeing that a lamp replacement is $300, I'm back into the game of research.

So, I've come up with a deal for a Optoma HD70 for $600 after everything (rebate, etc). My question is, for $600, is there any other comparable projector quality and price wise that I should be considering? $600 is awefully good for this puppy.

Jack,

Can you please pm me the details for your deal. Watch for sites that don't include the bulb with your new projector, btw. TIA.

I don't mind making the deal public, I don't think it'll offend the sponsors. Let me know if I'm wrong.

Basically:

Circuit City has the projector for $999. There's a AAA link out there, I can't find it right now but its there for 10% off. There are also relatively easy to find coupon codes for 10% off. Then there's of course the $200 mail in rebate from Optoma.

The difficult part. Through dealpass, if you don't know what that is, its kinda complicated to explain but fatwallet and slickdeals forums have extensive explanations of what it is. Basically you get gift cards at 20% discount.

So after all the math.

999 - 10% (coupon code) + sales tax - 20% (gift cards) - $200 Rebate.

You're left with approximately $600

please send me a pm for that deal as well thanks! I would like to know how to sign up for dealpass. It seems you need a referral link. Can you send me one?

I don't have referral links to give. For dealpass, there are a number of things to consider and that's why the discussion threads on mentioned sites are like 90 pages long. Although its no rocket science, you do have to read up on it.

a)there are a number of programs out there, u need to find one that has circuit city
b)out of those, some let you purchase all the cards out right, some only let u buy $125 each month
c)there are montly fees associated with the programs, u may want to cancel but u have know WHEN to cancel
d)after finding the program u want, u can generally get "invited" to those by perusing through sites that offer "freeiphone" or "free ipod" or free whatever. Those are not really scams, they get u to sign up for stuff (including these programs) and then make you go through hell for the free iphone or wahtever. You're only interested in the way into the dealpass programs.

anyways, i really don't want to make this into a dealpass discussion thread since that's not what AVS is about and there are plenty of resources out there for that. Good luck everyone.

600 for a new hd70 can't be beat. if I didn't hate MIR I would be all over that.
