Hey everyone,

Sony KP-51HW40 here...

When watching full-screen content, there are bands on both sides of the screen where (I presume) 4:3 was played for too long in the past.

Both of the bands are brighter (as in lighter, not as dark/dim) than the 4:3 part of the screen. It's not as noticeable on some stuff, but on the other hand, it's easy to see when looking at the field (Yankees ballgame on ESPN2HD right now).

Can anything be done to remedy this issue?

Thanks!

most likely not,but there is one thing i have heard/read that helps some and thats leaving a snowy/ dead channel ( you know the ones that sound all static/loud)on that has no signal for an hour or so. i am not a repair man or tv tech, but i had read this somewhere. someone on here would probably be able to give you a more accurate answer, but this is what i have read about that topic. good luck.

I had always wondered if you could figure out a way to run video only in the outter sections ont he screen if it could fix this by wearing out the phosphorus in those sections to equal the 4:3 windowed section.

That would be the thing to really try here.
