I've been working on setting up my HTPC and we had problems getting the PC picture to fit the TV. There was alot of bending in the edges.
We go to looking at my DirecTV picture and it too has bent edges and the bottom is curved.
So I know it's not something to do with the HTPC.
Any ideas what's wrong? Do I need to make a service call?
I just got this TV 2 weeks ago. It's a Samsung HLS6187

Sounds like the dreaded Samsung geometry issues with bowing and pincushioning of the image. I thought this was mostly in the the new slim HL-T series. My HL-S5087 has straight top & bottom horizontal lines with only 1/8inch of bowing on the side pillars. You should request a service call, however, most of these geometry issues have no fix.

I plan on calling Samsung tomorrow... What will they do if they can't fix the issue ? I think it's unacceptable how bad it is. It's really noticeable when using the PC, but even noticeable with my DirecTV video.

Most have either asked for a replacement set and hoped for a better image or simply returned the set for their money back - assuming the purchase had a return policy; most online purchases do not allow returns.

I bought it at a local electronics store. HH Gregg. A service tech from Samsung is coming out Friday. The guy at HH Gregg said if they can't fix it, they will give me my money back.
Is this a common issue with the Samsung DLP ? I love my picture quality. If they give a refund, should I try another one or go with something else ?

Yes, and if you were like me, you would go bigger and better. I have found that the longer I have the 'not-so-good' set in my possession, the longer the bigger and better sets have to come down in price.

So it is common... are they able to fix it ???
I am happy with the size, I have a 61in. But I guess I will start looking in case they can't fix it and offer a refund. I may go with an LCD this time ?!!?!?

If they can fix the geometry on your set you will be the first reported on this forum. None have been fixed so far. When I went to my local store they were willing to let me look at the set before I took it home. That was for a Mits; I have a Samsung HL-T6756W coming in a week and I'm afraid that it will have unacceptable bowing. At least I have the option of returning it.

I also have a very minor geometry issue with my HL-S6187W that I didn't notice right away. Didn't even notice it at the store on the display models - but I guess it depends on what you have on the screen. I've just sorta learned to live with it.

Hmmm.. are there some of the Samsung DLP's that don't have geometry issues ? My buddy has an older Samsung DLP and he doesn't have any issues.
Makes me think about going with something else if they say they can't fix it.
