I will need a new bulb in about a month for my Marantze VP12S4. I've searched here and on Google and haven't found many places that sell these.
If anyone has a suggestion I would appreciate it.
I could always go back to where I bought the projector. I just wanted to see if they were any less expensive alternatives.
Thanks
I would like to purchase a spare for my S3 so if you find a source please let me know.

Look no further than the AVS store. Jason and the boys are Marantz dealers. I got one from them a while back and they had great prices. FYI, there aren't any 'discount' internet shops that I could find anyway.

Whatever you do, don't get a refurbished bulb. I spoke to a guy who had put one in an S2 and it fried something in the unit. While it may have been an isolated incident, it's something I wouldn't want to chance to save a couple hundred bucks. Spend the money with Jason/ Marantz and get the new one.

The VP12S3 and VP12S4 both use the same lamp (VP11S1 uses this lamp too)
Part Number - LU-12VPS3
The lamp retails for $500.00.... You can place orders through Authorized Marantz Dealers or directly through Marantz w/ a credit card (800-654-6633, Opt 2) Marantz has them in stock.
When handling these lamps be sure not to get any fingerprints on the lens and to only handle the lamp by the plastic outer casing. Also make sure you reset the timer on your projector to zero.

Thanks for the info.
No problem Richard....
I assume you live in the U.S.... If you live in Canada, the # I provided above will be different.

I have actually just relocated to Germany. The local dealer quoted me approximately 499 Euro. With the exchange rate at 1.37 Dollars/Euro that makes it about 37% more expensive than buying it in dollars. I have a relative visiting soon and will just have them pick one up at the dealer in the states.
On a side note I can confirm that the VP12S4 is dual voltage. The label on the back of the unit states it is only 110V. The owners manual states 110-240, and I received an e-mail from Marantz stating it was dual voltage. I just added a plug adapter and the unit switches from NTSC and PAL with no problems.
It was the easiest component to make the transition from the US to Germany. The Stewart motorized screen on the other hand…..

Are the picture/memory settings lost on Marantz projectors when unplugged or bulb is replaced?

Are the picture/memory settings lost on Marantz projectors when unplugged or bulb is replaced? No. There is an internal battery. But... Your new lamp will look different as far as color balance. If you had an ISF calibration done, it most likely will not be the same now. Lamps change color over time. Especially after the first 100 hrs and then towards the end of their life.
