Hello - I own Pioneer SD-643HD5 witch were working excellent for over three years. Couple of days ago I noticed a problem with the blue light getting out of alighment (see attachments). It started from the bottom of the screen and now it took all of the screen from top to bottom. Convergence adjustment for a blue lines doesn't work at all. I haven't opened the unit yet and trying to find some information on what could get wrong in there and what should I look for before I get in to it.
Thanks

I take the standard conversion utility did nothing?
Most CRT RP's have a user available convergence, but that looks pretty darn far out so it may not solve it anyways.

I had this happen to my older pioneer and mits rear projection. It was the Convergence chips that were gone. I think thats what they were called. There were 2 of them, only one was bad, but if this is the case and what is wrong with yours, for the price, I'd advise replacing both as usually the other one is not far behind. The picture looked just like the ones you posted. You could not adjust the convergence back, I had the repair done for me and the cost was under $300 at the time.
I also had a repair done to my Pioneer SD-643HD5 and it was in the $300 range too. It would turn on for a second and then go off. If anyone has this problem, I could look up the invoice and tell you what the parts were as I still have this invoice.

Thanks for the reply HoneyMonkey, that is what I think too from researching the different forums. Already ordered the new IC's, removed mine, will have to wait till they come so I can put them in and see if it works. All the big resistors around the chips are good and the board doesn't seems to have any cracked solder (I guess it is a good thing).
Anyway - as soon as I'll get them and put them in I'll let you guys know how it works :)
PS It did seem that those chips were soldered by hand - and I got that TV Brand New and no one were screwing with it before :/
