Its been very spotty support on both formats. Judging by the dust collecting on Sopranos sets, not sure what else they are going to do.

Sopranos in HD is just to expensive. Also, IMHO, the series does not lend itslef to repeated viewings.

Sure it does.

I've watched the Sopranos twice (with the exception of season 6.2) and I always found something new!

Mark my words it will happen. Either Constantine or Calligula. All of HBO's major shows are done. They'll realize within a year or two that they need heavy hitters and will sanction another season of Rome. The cool thing about Rome is, it doesn't have to bring back actors, since it could be from any era of the Roman Empire. Although I will greatly miss Pullo and Vorenus. But seriously, there's nothing more to be told about that story. It's done. Something new perhaps.

How good did it look? Who did you order it through and is it going to cost me an arm and a leg?

Their prices for both SD and HD DVDS is just way too high, imo. Too bad, because I'd love to have Six Feet Under and Sopranos on HD, but probably wouldn't purchase them even if they were released because of the price.

From the earth to the moon was great, having that in HD would be very nice.

Id like entourage on HD-DVD. I've got the first 3 sets but would replace them if HD_DVDs came out...

That is what is holding me back. I already have 1-5 in SD, so that is another consideration, I hate having screwy collections like that, the packaging doesn't match up, and I could get both 6.1/2 in SD for the price of 1 in HD practically.

FYI, HBO is distributed by Paramount in Australia, which is MUCH cheaper. Sopranos is listed on HD DVD there, and cheaper.

Since my thread got locked...
It has been 2 months since anyone posted in this thread....BUMP!!

Has anyone heard about HBO's plans with their series coming out on HD?

I know that Sopranos Season 6 Pt. 2 just came out, but was wondering if they have announced/hinted that they have been happy with the sales of pt.1.

Have they announced ship dates for Deadwood(earlier listed as an HD DVD title), Rome, or other Soprano's Seasons?

I think their pricing is ridiculously high(double DVD street pricing)...but would splurge for Deadwood..and would Netflix the others.

Releasing Sopranos in HD was a stupid idea. Which explains why it didn't sell well. IMO, Sopranos in HD is not needed. There are a lot of HBO shows that glow in HD - Rome, Wire, Carnivale. Also, some of us don't want to start watching from the middle of the season.

If HBO releases ROME S1 or Carnivale S1, it will sell. Because they were short shows and people can get right into it.

I had the same feeling. I was awestruck by Deadwood(watched it in HD from launch) and had mentioned that there is no way I will buy it in SD.

I am hoping that somehow they release it on HD DVD soon..

There's another show I forgot. Deadwood. Although nasty armpit hairs on women, in HD is not exactly my cup of tea. :o

Um... Has The Wire even been produced in HD? I thought it was broadcast in 4x3... At least the first three seasons were.

Since they've been so quiet it's getting damn tempting to just buy the BoB set from Japan instead of waiting. That's pretty much the only thing I want out of HBO. I just know with my luck I'll buy it and then they'll announce a U.S. release two weeks later.

So hopefully with HBO's major shows done they are working on the Fire and Ice series by George R. R. Martin. I know it is coming, but not soon enough for me! Once that series comes out then I will be getting HBO. Each book will be one season. I'll be curious how faithful to the books it will be.

As to the OP I'm still waiting for Band of Brothers.

HIGHLY doubtful, that show was extremely expensive to make and HBO didnt want it around for even a second season. Same reason why deadwood and Carnivale were dropped.
