I know their initial releases had 24-bit tracks. Now that they're committing to TrueHD on a regular basis, are they still publishing discs using 24-bit tracks, or have they had to compromise for some reason and moved to 16 instead? Not really a big deal to me, just curious is all.

Not sure. I doubt anyone could hear any discernible difference 99.9% of the time anyway between 16 and 24 bit.

According to benes' stickied A/V specifications thread, Darkman's TrueHD track is 24-bit. However, High-Def Digest reports it as 16-bit. I would trust benes more, as he uses computer software for his bit-rate readouts. But then again, Darkman is an older film from 1990, so I could see the original master being 16-bit.

It's worth noting that High-Def Digest also reports Notting Hill as having a 16-bit TrueHD track. That site does often get audio specs wrong, so I would like to know where they get their information from.

I read somewhere on here awhile ago (I would have to look it up), that the jump from 16 bit to 20 bit is discernable, but 20 bit to 24 bit is not. So I wish everyone would start using 20 bit encodes. It would be a nice middle-ground.
