I'm looking it over now. VW200 not posted just yet.

Sadly there is no mention of motionflow.

But it does describe (color) panel alignment, if somewhat obscurely.

Yes that was great to see, however it doesn't specify how they are getting this to work (mechanical movement or some other method as speculated) I sure hope it is a mechanical moving adjustment.

What is panel alignment for? Is it something specific to SXRD technology?

Thanks

Last years vw50's were a hit or a miss as far as panel allignment was concerned. some had great convergence (where the green, red, and blue pixels meet) and some had bad convergence and would have red or blue outlines on contrasting objects. This panel allignment adjustment would let the end user calibrate their image to get the best panel allignment possible.

Yup, three panels to align to get the pixels from each on top of the other. It was "preset" in the VW50. Some brave souls took theirs all apart to manually align them, but it was a warranty-breaking, nerve-frazzling job.

This sounds very similar to the convergence you would have to do on CRTs, where you would bring up a grid and try to get each color on top of each other. Is that right?

I'm new to front projectors and have a lot to learn. Thanks for the replies.

I heard from a good source that the VW60 will allow alignment to be adjusted in 1/10 pixel increments.

I don't think anyone has yet to see exactly how they do this, but I would expect it to be VERY similar to CRT grid allignment. I hope they allow for colors to be turned off though. For example I would want to turn off red when I am alligning blue to green. A lot of CRT's (RPTV) didn't allow you to do this.

I donīt have any well based information source, but perhaps the panel alligment is contolled with piezoelectric devices:

I am a little concerned about the panel alignment feature and the statement in the manual that the resolution may change or a decrease in the number of display pixels. If they are doing this electronically by flashing adjacent pixels since they have a higher refresh rate, then there could be some artifacts or softening introduced. Can't wait for the reviews to come in on this to see how will it works.
