View Full Version : Exclusive "Transformers" HD DVD discussion!
It's only a few months away and the HD camp will be getting the massive summer blockbuster "Transformers" exclusively on HD-DVD. How important will this be to the format? Could it decide the format war single handedly?
http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-HD-DVD/dp/B000NU2NJ8******pd_bbs_sr_1/102-7514878-1955362?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1188326976&sr=8-1
What would everyone like to see Paramount/Dreamworks put on this exclusive HD-DVD release?
For starters, I'd love to have alternate voice over work from Frank Welker playing Megatron(as he did in the original cartoon). I was a bit bummed he was skipped over for the movie, this would make an awesome special edition for the HD release.
All the behind the scenes special effects footage they can get. I'd love to see ILM employees working on their workstations as they're developing the robots.
Before and after shots. Show us the original "plate" scene Bay shot and then the "after" shot with the added special effects and how the process works.
Commentary from Peter Cullen(Optimus Prime), Michael Bay, Shia Lebauf, etc.
All the different commercials, previews and trailers that were shown should be on the disc.
The entire music soundtrack included on the disc(s).
Any other ideas? :)
David Scott 08-28-07, 02:54 PM No straight dvd release. When you buy it you get the HD and SD on the same disc. I think this would go a long way towards getting people to buy into the format.
Also, put more extras on the HD version.

Combo only? I agree.
byronmhome 08-28-07, 03:02 PM Combo only = WIN
Especially with people getting HD DVD players for 210 with EIGHT MOVIES
thecodeman 08-28-07, 03:03 PM Combo only is the way to go.

So your thread is different how??
I'm sorry for stepping on toes here. If anyone is a mod, can they merge mine with an existing one? I'll go sit in a corner now and put the dunce cap on while reminding myself about the search function.
b.greenway 08-28-07, 03:17 PM Combo only is a great idea. Introduce a disk with a 5-10% failure rate to the millions who don't know anything about HD-DVD. That'll make a good first impression.
Where are you getting that 5-10% failure rate figure from?
YONEXSP 08-28-07, 03:20 PM Where are you getting that 5-10% failure rate figure from?
FUD
Combo only, it a excellent idea !!!!! HD DVD is the best.
martijua 08-28-07, 03:29 PM Where are you getting that 5-10% failure rate figure from?
Out of his glutei.
bases1616 08-28-07, 03:47 PM Rob_HD,
The amazon link does not work. You get this error message:
Looking for something?
We're sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site
I tried doing the link as well and no luck. You just have to type Transformers HD DVD in the search line on amazon.com and it will come up for you. You can only sign up for email notification at this time.
martijua 08-28-07, 03:57 PM I think they should put LOTS of Megan Fox footage on the bonus stuff.
delrmx01 08-28-07, 03:59 PM +100 I agree with martijua ...LOL.
Hector.B 08-28-07, 05:38 PM Combo only will definitely make people curious as to how the HD-DVD looks even if they don't have an HD-DVD player this will get them interested in knowing that they would also be missing out on features (pic in pic video commentary please!) that are only available on the HD-DVD side of the disc.
Curiosity killed the Blu-ray.
TheCrow1994 08-28-07, 05:47 PM Where are you getting that 5-10% failure rate figure from?
I think it came from Sony...right before they said hd dvd was dead.
eightninesuited 08-28-07, 05:55 PM How about lowering the price of Combos from $39.99 to $34.99?
Oh! And True HD better be in the audio spec or someone is going to have hell to pay!
How about lowering the price of Combos from $39.99 to $34.99?
If they're serious about getting people who would otherwise buy the SD (legacy) DVD version, the price has to be in the $20 neighborhood. Early adopters might be OK with a $30 price point, but J6P just looking to buy Transformers when it comes out won't be pleased with anything over $20.
BZiggyZ 08-28-07, 06:56 PM I want 2 discs. The first should be a director's cut of the movie with TrueHD and some cool IME/PiP commentary showing blue screen shooting a la 300, plus any other various commentaries, pop-up facts, etc. The second disc should be every single bit of behind the scenes, making of, documentary, featurette, cartoon/toy/comic book history, voice actor interview, video game demo tour de force imaginable. And I want someone (Best Buy I'm looking at you) to have the crazy deluxe "allspark" box set version with a Bumblebee figure included. Pull out all the stops.
So your thread is different how??It's different in that nobody can post to it, anymore :D Continue discussion in one of the existing threads, please.
