Hmm... kind of tempting. If they have some promos like this towards the end of the year then I might take the plunge. For those of you with the HD add on for the 360 - it only works with component cables right? Does that mean it doesn't do 1080p? Also, if you add this to the Elite unit with HDMI will it display in 1080p?
I know a lot of people argue the difference between 1080i and 1080p, but I'd prefer to have the best picture (even if it is on paper) possible. I only have a 60", but I was thinking of going into a 72"+ range so I'm looking for best picture quality.

As far as I am aware the 360 can output 1080p for games and 1080i for HD DVD via component. For 1080p for HD DVD or better upscaling you need to use the VGA adapter or use HDMI on the elites or the upcoming HDMI equipped 360 Premiere.

Correct.
