Sorry for the double post, my browser hung a bit, can you remove the other thread? Not least because I spelt Mitsubishi wrong!

Maybe that was your point, but that's more like 11%, not 25%.

Ok, so now I have a brand new HC5000 sitting in an unopened box (long-story). Do I:
a) sell it immediately and get the HC6000 at the end of september (btw, who do we think will offer this thing first (no RS1 delays, please); OR
b) open it now, use it for a couple months while the HC6000 "kinks" get worked out (if there are any and then upgrade; OR
c) wait until after CEDIA to do either with 1-2 weeks of no projector use (gone for 50% of that time on vacation anyway)?

Thoughts from anyone in this camp?

I'd go for option "b"... let others be the guinea pigs and find the bugs! :D

No, they are still using D6 panels...
The HC6000 is being presented at the IFA show right now. We saw it yesterday in action.

Is there a D7 Mitsubishi yet to be announced? Seems odd they would opt out of a new significantly improved lcd panel design.

So, what was your impression? Will you be evaluating the HC6000 soon and posting it on Cine4Home (in English, please?). :)

Impression was good. It is basically a HC5000 Ultra with a faster Iris... We will get a pre-pro sample soon and release a preview then...

Well, as the HC6000 was just announced there won't be any other LCDs coming from Mitsubishi for another year i am pretty sure :)

Ekkehart,

What about 1080p DLP projectors? I remember last year the Mitsubishi engineer said they weren't doing 1080p DLP because price would be too high, but this year Optoma and BenQ have proved it can be made affordably.

Thanks.

So the HC6000 employs a dual-iris system like the Ultra you folks created? Sounds neat. Imagine what it would be like to have something like that with the D7 panel and the Epson's polarizer system all together in the same unit.

Yeah, maybe we should try to insert the Epson polarizers in the HC6000

:D

We might give it a try ha ha
I just have a feeling we wont get the polarizers as a replacement part

Sounds like Mitsubishi copied your Ultra design... did you get any monetary compensation? ;)

Review at www.hdtvexpert.com
-faster auto iris
-black levels 20% lower than 5000 (= to DLP)
-shadow detail improved
-improved gray scale images (as good if not better than RS1; =to DLP)
-colorimetry off on green, yellow; lesser off on red
-denser air filter keeps optical chain free of dust

I'm looking forward to more reports on this projector. If the improvements are that good it could be a very popular pj.

No we did NOT. And we are not too happy about it... Well, that is how big companies in Japan seem to work...

We will get a test sample ASAP though and it sure makes a nice picture...

I'm sorry to hear that, Ekkehart! :(

BTW, did you notice whether the HC6000 has an adjustable manual iris?

Interesting.

I love my hc3000 but I am rainbow prone and some material still bugs me with it.

Wonder what the street will be...?

I'm looking forward to more reports on this projector. If the improvements are that good it could be a very popular pj.Since this is basically a "fixed" HC5000, I'm a little sceptical on how this will perform against the competitors with newer D7 panels (Sanyo, Epson, Panasonic).

Does anyone know what connections will be supported on the 6000? I am planning on purchasing one of these units and would like to know if it supports component as well as the two hdmi ports.

Yes, component and 2 HDMIs, and the release price is allegedly $3,499...this guy got to play with one for a few hours...he gives a brief review.

Not sure if I believe them. However, we should know the answer tomorrow based on reports from Cedia. If the 6000 ,as previously reported, is going to be offered here, I am sure it will be at the show.

Have seen the HC6000 out of the box side by side against a calibrated HC5000 and I have to say the new one did impress a lot. Both in a light controlled room agains a StudioTek 130.

The colors where a bit of but the overall picture was several levels above the HC5000. The biggest difference was the huge improvement in the blacks and it had a even sharper image then the allready impressive sharp HC5000. How this has been done I have no idea about, but the difference was not subtle.

I was no fan of the HC5000 but HC6000 did really have a big push in the picture that the former did not have. I'm going to compare it to BenQ W9000 and se how it stacks against a really good DLP as soon as I can. It's for sure om my short list and I hope it can raise a bit when calibrated.
