With the current trend of sales of both hardware and software, and HD DVD actually wins, will history tell that Paramount made it so.

View Full Version : History will tell Paramanount is the reason ? kulims 08-28-07, 05:17 PM With the current trend of sales of both hardware and software, and HD DVD actually wins, will history tell that Paramount made it so. lilstinky 08-28-07, 05:19 PM Both formats will win. Blu-Ray still has huge blockbuster movies such as POTC and Spiderman. Neither format is going away anytime soon. cybereality 08-28-07, 05:49 PM If HD DVD does outright win (big if here) I think everyone will look back at the Paramount announcement as the real turning-point. There is no doubt about that. We were still all here before the Paramount thing, its not like thats the only thing HD DVDs got. But it sure paints the future much nicer for HD DVD. b.greenway 08-28-07, 05:51 PM With the current trend of sales of both hardware and software, and HD DVD actually wins, will history tell that Paramount made it so. Whatever happens Red Monday(TM) will be remembered as a major event. fwiw I changed that from Black Monday(TM) after a friend pointed out that Red Monday would be more appropriate, guess it all depends on your point of view. lgans316 08-28-07, 09:36 PM Paramount just made an announcement and besides very few titles nothing major is coming out from them. Ergoguy34 08-28-07, 09:39 PM Man there is some crazy **** being posted here lately. HD has a good week and you post this? Do some research man, there is way to much at stake for both camps and I doubt like hell we will see either side lay down this early in the game.. petmic10 08-28-07, 09:42 PM Paramount just made an announcement and besides very few titles nothing major is coming out from them. It's not just about announcing titles. It breathes life into HD DVD and shows consumers that HD DVD is here to stay. So people waiting out this war might reconsider now because another studio went HD DVD exlcusive especially when you couple that with eroding player prices. I just bought an HD-A2 and thre combo discs for my brother from Amazon.com for $202.54. Throw in the 5 disc mail in rebate and you get 8 discs and a player for around $200, not much of a risk if you ask me. BlackRiderX 08-28-07, 09:47 PM If you are going to credit one studio for keeping Hd-dvd alive, or even taking credit for the win "some day", Universal should get the nod from every Hd-dvd supporter. evolver 08-28-07, 10:05 PM Paramount just made an announcement and besides very few titles nothing major is coming out from them. Yeah, nothing except for Top Gun, the Jack Ryan Collection, Face/Off, Old School, Anchorman, and Star Trek Remastered. Also some little film called Tranformers, but that's all. :D And no, Paramount alone will not "win" this (although it certainly got some people's attention), mass adoption will, and that wont happen until HD DVD players and media are at least somewhat cost competetive with DVD. Q4 should be very interesting.... |
