I'm sort of a purist when it comes to cable runs. I don't like the idea of using wall plates that have connectors. This is especially true for video signals and somewhat true for audio.

So am I the only person out there thinking this way? It not, I wonder what some of you are using when cables are sticking through sheetrock. I wouldn't want simply a hole and of course you could just use a wall plate with a hole through it but I'm not sure if that looks much better.

Is anyone out there using an elegant design that doesn't force you to cut the cable?

Take a look at Semtron. They have grommet wall plates in many sizes. Look at the second section down in this page... http://www.semtron.com/news.htm

You could put a rather large bundle of cables through some of those big grommets.

I deal with them on other products for my amp business, but I plan to use their wall plates for my entire home theatre.

I used a Vanco Bulk wallplate for my projector.

Yes, bulk cable plate will be your friend. Get a 2 gang one. I bought one and primed it and painted it flat black. It has plenty of room for cables. The single gangs are a lot smaller though.

I used these when I hung my LCD's on the wall.

The decora plates look better and more updated.
