I have a Epson 400 and recently I just bought a new dell notebook that has a DVI output.

Before that I was just using the VGA video output and clone screening with the resolution set to 1280x720, when I first connect my computer to the projector, the desktop appears out of position as in the left part of the desktop has about 30 pixels cut off and the right part has about 30pixels of nothing. There seems to be no overscan and after I go into my graphics card monitor position settings to move the desktop right about 30 pixels the display is good.

Unfortunately the same problem occurs when I connect my notebook via DVI/HDMI but for DVI output, my graphics card settings does not have the positioning settings available to move my desktop right 30 pixels.

FYI my notebook once I plugged the DVI in autodetected my projector as being a Epson Projector. I thought one of the big advantages of DVI is that you don't need to calibrate the position/color like you need to do with VGA.

With the DVI outout I can see a significant improvement in image quality over the VGA output but I just can not figure out a way to shift my desktop that 30 pixels over.

My graphics card is a Nvidia 7900GS btw. Did any of you guys run into this problem connecting your computer to your projector via DVI/HDMI and what is the solution? Thanks for your help!

David

You should have the NVidia Control Center running in your system tray and this will allow you to make the changes needed to position your desktop properly.

If not, head over to NVidia for the latest driver install to put the tools on your machine.

The funny thing is that I have the controls in the vidia control center to change the positioning but only for VGA. Those same controls don't seem to be there for DVI/HDMI.

So you have this on your machine and nothing in it is allowing you to change your image? Did you try making the display size 1280 x 768 or did you look at the Advanced Timing selection?
