Anyone know where The first movie by itself can be found online besides ebay?

I'd really like to get it, but I don't care for the sequels.

And is there any word when Warner's is releasing them all as standalones?

I wanted this too.. so far has held me back from buying any of the movies.. I don't want the whole box set.. just the first 2, or maybe even just the first one.

No idea, but luckily Netflix doesn't send them as a collection ;)

(but it _was_ on Long Wait until I just received it yesterday :p)

Aren't they being released separately in France?

There's more than one? Since when? ;)

It's amazing how that movie is the one that keeps getting "lost in the mail" over and over and over again.

IMO the second one is worth having for the highway chase part.... it sounds and looks great!

Only the first movie exists in my universe.

The Matrix Trilogy is released on sept 11 and can be had for £19.99($40.00) if that's any use(all regions)from amazon uk. I only like the first movie , but for that price its not bad.

We'll probably be waiting until 08 so that WB can milk the 4th quarter sales bonus of forcing people to buy the trilogy.

Just get the trilogy. The sequels aren't as bad as you remember when you watch them again in HD.

All 3 movies are great.

Why the "Pooh-Pooh" attitude towards the next two films. Sure, they're not groundbreaking like the first movie but geez they're not bad by any means.

They advance the excellent story, have some great action in them, and generally avoid the cheese factor.

Its a damned good trilogy....what the hell is the problem???

I look at it this way:

1. The Matrix - great movie overall
2. The Matrix Reloaded - pretty good, excellent freeway scene for demo material
3. The Matrix Revolutions - yucko movie, the attack of the machines and the rain fight scene are pure demo material

I've seen stacks of 2 and 3 show up in a local used DVD store. It seems that several people have found a way to balance the cost of the box set while keeping only the first movie.

Amen.

In the second and third movies, everything tastes like chicken.

I have to stop buying movies. Though I've bought a total of 9 movies for $120 in the last 3 days. Thanks to Amazon's sale and this deal.

Only the first movie exists in my universe.

And in that same universe the Star Wars prequels never happened either.

Warner is not stupid. They made the big bucks off the people who liked two or three of the movies -- or who really liked the first one and had money to spend. I have to believe that Warner will make the bulk of their Matrix franchise on HD from a stand-alone Matrix movie. I sort of regret buying the second two on DVD and will certainly not double-dip to get the HD versions.

I also only want the first movie. The other two don't exist for me, much like the Star Wars prequels.

I really like the first movie and would buy it separately, but there's just no way I could buy the second and third movie. Of course, renting the first movie on Netflix has been impossible. As a result of all of this, I still have the original Matrix DVD I bought back in December of 1999.

I find it hilarious that so many people don't like the second two movies. Everyone has those couple of cult movies that everyone hates, but you know are great for reasons others refuse to see. We have that with two major blockbusters!! :D

Unfortunately, the first film suffer from a slight sound lag for many people, myself included, and Warner refuses to admit to this.

So we spent big bucks for NOTHING. My boxed set sits, unwatched, collecting dust. That pretty much stopped me from buying any more HD-DVD's and I have not bought Warner titles on BD either.

Like many of you I have held off on buying the set, even if the sequels make for great demo material.

And Pirates of the Caribbean suffers from framing issues, I guess you're not buying any high definition movies?

I cracked and ended up getting the box set. Though it cost me 1/2 of what it should.

I've been reading a few posts and honestly, some of you need to get off your high horses. I mean c'mon people, they're just movies after all. You know, make believe stories meant to take you away from everyday life? The first Matrix was great as were the sequels. I' didn't care for the ending of Revolutions at all but I won't turn up my nose at it because it doesn't reach my expectations. Honestly, I LOVED Realoaded much more than the first. It;s like Star wars. I live and breathe that series and while I think Lucas blew a great opportunity with Episode 1, the story as a whole is great. You could catch anakin's negative emotions throughout the prequels and I thought that was great. anyway, sorry to rant but we need to just watch all the movies we can and love the ones we enjoy...... and don't trash anyone else for the movies they love.

Matrix 1 is out in Europe as a separate HD DVD, just came out I think. I have seen it in stores here in Finland and others have reported it too in the last week or so.

Should have got the box set off Circuit City online store when they had the price mistake and were selling it for $20:D

Correct. Here in Europe you can get the first one as a standalone HD-DVD.
Which is good as that's the one I'm interested in. Comes with Dolby TrueHD.
I ordered mine yesterday (Sweden).

Cheers

Which movie did one of the "brothers" start wearing a dress. It wasn't the first one. :)
