I have Toshiba MT800 projector which I'm told is the same as the Infocus Screenplay 7205. Does anyone have the optimal settings for component video input? The projector is being used in a dedicated theater room (no windows) with a 120 inch fixed frame Dalite screen with a High Contrast CinemaVision surface. My DVD is a Denon DVD1910 and my receiver is a Denon AVR 2805. The projector is used primarily to watch DVDs with the out of the box configuration for 480i. It is used secondarily for HDTV. Both use the same component video input to the projector.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

Adjust your brightness/contrast/color/tint with any cheap calibration DVD. You don't even need the blue filter - as option for blue only in the menu. This assumes Toshiba firmware is same as Infocus.

Done.

Nobody can give you these numbers - every source is different - which is why the controls exist.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was aware of this option prior to posting my question. However, I have seen specific settings for other projectors/plasma's provided on this forum which are very helpful and work extremely well for others. I used the setting posted for my new PDP 60 HD plasma - it worked great and saved me time and hassles.

Anyone else who can provide specific settings for the Toshiba MT800/Infocus 7205? Your help is greatly appreciated.

plasmas need them because the factory defaults are horribly wrong. Infocus does D65/REC709 calibration at the factory and adjusts the basic settings for a reference source - you truly need do nothing but turn it on and adjust with your freebie THX DVD - as the defaults are indeed for calibrated PJ with calibrated sources - the source only screws up the basic adjustments not the advanced ones.

Again assuming Toshiba did not screw it up.

Now if you do upgrade to HDMI there is an adjustment to make for the Video DVI since came out before it was an option - you can find it yourself doing the basic adjustments as described - or you can put some settings in the advanced menu known to work with compliant sources. But this is not necessary for component.

Does anyone have any other input on this? A buddy of mine has the Infocus 7205 and I was watching some DVDs with him over the weekend. The picture looked good but not perfect. I decided to do an AVS search to see if I could get him some alternate settings to play with.

I'm interested if any of the owners of these projectors have tweaked their setting for DVD over component video with better results than the factory settings. If so, please let me know.

Thanks,

E
