I have a dedicated theater room being built(24x17.5). It has no windows in it(although they are framed). I plan on DD and GG the room. The HT shares a wall with the LR. At the moment there is frame for a french door in there. I planned on putting an exterior grade french door in there replete w/ threshold. However the GF is saying now that since there are no windows in the room, the french doors should have windows. Im concerned that a french door with windows may compromise the sound proofing. Ideally a single door is better of course, but i think that would really mess with the "flow" of the house.

I've seenthese (http://www.soundproofwindows.com/soundproofing_panels.html). But I really don't know anything about them.

Am I going to be able to find anything that wont be ludicrously expensive? Any ideas for this doorway?

Windows in the doors for what? To see into the theater from outside? Just open the door. To see out from the theater? Seems like it would be very distracting during a move, especially if there were others in the LR. If nobody was in the living room, what would you need to see it for?

I'd abandon that idea.

Yeah we see eye to eye, here. Shes got her kitchen so she can stfu i guess. I gotta make sure this french door seals in the middle. I was hoping to find a door where one them had a lip on it so they sealed closed without a center post in the way.

I spent 90 grand or so on the wife's kitchen so I get absolute control over the HT. Sadly there is no money left, but at least no restrictions. All black. Everything. Period. Now if the builders would just show up. :(

I used the "Safe and Sound" doors from HD. Special ordered a 60" set (x2 30" doors), they work great at keeping the sound inside.

Tell her you can get on board the double door concept. Tell her this is what you want to do. By the way, those are mirrors not windows. Found this Pic in my research.
