NTX1 08-30-07, 11:56 PM I'm on the fence as well between the two,we currently have Dish(Non-HD) but don't who to pull the trigger on for the best picture quality in HD on LCD 1080p as both services are offering great HD upgrade deals. bfdtv 08-31-07, 12:03 AM Dish Network has more HD now, but DirecTV is expected to take the lead within 60 days or less. With the launch of its new D10 and D11 satellites, DirecTV also has significantly more capacity for new high-definition channels. joed32 08-31-07, 10:56 AM wich is better Dish network or Direct TV for high defination content and recievers?? My advice is to base your choice on content unless you are a videophile. Choose the one with the channels you.like. JC32 08-31-07, 01:26 PM Directv will have over 70 HD channels by the end of this month, probably by the middle of it!! I switched to Directv and continue to love it!! NTX1 08-31-07, 10:02 PM I'm still a new guy with the HD but you're ight it's about the content one likes as they both from what I understand transmit in 1080i is all that matters on the receiving end. Please educate the old guy here if I said anything inaccurate ;) adb 08-31-07, 10:19 PM I'm still a new guy with the HD but you're ight it's about the content one likes as they both from what I understand transmit in 1080i is all that matters on the receiving end. Please educate the old guy here if I said anything inaccurate ;) They also transmit in 720p if that is what is being sent. Example--ESPN & ABC send a 720p signal and that is what they send for them. Reshired 09-01-07, 12:05 AM I got a call from D* yesterday. They were checking to see if we were ready with a b band converter. It sounded like they are ready to switch on the new channels. I Also notices that my receiver downloaded new stuff that really fixed a lot of the old problems. I really like how much easier it is to FF threw the commercials now. When you release the button it goes back a little like the old Tivo used to do. They gave me a web site directv.com/bbc to check if we were ready. We are. STEELERSRULE 09-01-07, 12:16 PM Directv will have over 70 HD channels by the end of this month, probably by the middle of it!! I switched to Directv and continue to love it!! Could you please LIST the new HD channels that D* is going to have? You can only list the OTA's(NBC/CBS/ABC/PBS/Etc...) ONCE, no repeats. I don't think there are 70 HD channels available now to begin with. Remember, D* claims they will have the "CAPACITY" for alot of HD channels. This does not mean that there are(there are not 70 HD cable channels available now. No way. And not that many within 60 days either. Not for a LONGGGGGGGGG TIME). And some that they list are premiums. Watch the wording people. I think alot of you are going to be disappointed if you are planning to make a leap to either D* or E*, and expect to have a HUGE amount of HD channels. There are just not that many now. But many of us on this forum are videophiles, which system has the best overall PQ? Is it better than my Cox cable? bfdtv 09-01-07, 12:51 PM This does not mean that there are(there are not 70 HD cable channels available now. No way. And not that many within 60 days either. Not for a LONGGGGGGGGG TIME).See the list in this thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=851257 About 20 of the new channels are HDTV RSNs. DirecTV will use these to provide HD versions of the sports packages. Note some of the channels do not launch until early 2007. |
